All sorts of microbes are collected and studied in the MBL Microbial Diversity course -- and they are fascinatingly unique. Some of the students this year made movies of protists that live symbiotically in the termite gut, helping their hosts digest their woody diet. The termites came from the laboratory of Microbial Diversity course co-director Jared Leadbetter of Caltech. See more movies here.
