KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Missouri, reports on the year-round satellite lab at the MBL set up by the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. "The goal, as with everything Stowers researchers do, is to find keys in the animal kingdom that could unlock better human health down the road," says reporter Taylor Hemness. As to why Stowers chose the MBL for a home-away-from-home, Woods Hole is a place where "you can bring the lab to nature," says Alejandro Sánchez Alavarado, president and chief scientific officer of the Stowers Institute.
